Hello families!

Just a few more sleeps to go!

Announcements

  • Next week, we will have sign-up sheets on the bulletin board located outside our classroom. We need help with play dough and laundry.
  • Scholastic book orders come out every month and are a great way to build your library and to help our classroom. The booklets will be located on the bulletin board, so please help yourself if you are interested in ordering books.
  • As the class lists are still being sorted out, special helpers will be posted in a week or so. Keep your eye on the online calendar or the bulletin board for your child's turn. When your child is special helper, they are allowed to bring an item from home for show and tell.
  • We are in need of empty jars, jam, sauce, pickle etc. Please send any that you are willing to share with your child by October 11th. They will be greatly appreciated!

September dates

  • September 19th and 20th: We will be doing our annual walk for Terry Fox. We meet at the school at regular class time, walk down to Lion's Park, and everyone is welcome to join our walk. We will stay at the park for play, a snack that will be provided, and then walk back to the school for regular pick up. This day is weather permitting and may be cancelled the day of, in which case we will have regular class. There are pledge forms available for those who would like to donate to the Terry Fox foundation.
  • September 26th and 27th: We will be taking school pictures. This year, we are going with Joey from Silverlight Studios, who will be doing class and individual pictures.

Reminders

  • Parking: Parking is available in the church parking lot. All spaces along the sidewalk are reserved for the church staff and their members. Please DO NOT use those parking spots, even for quick drop-offs.
  • Sick days: If your child has thrown-up, or has had diarrhea or a fever 24 hours prior to school, please keep them at home.
  • Payment: Payment is due on the first of each month, via, cash, cheque or eTransfer to abcds@live.ca. The first $100.00 programming fee is due by September 30th unless other arrangements have been made.

October dates

  • 14th & 15th: No school
  • 30th & 31st: Halloween parties

Summer News

Happy summer everyone!

Now that our monsoon season is half over it is time to think about the fall (sorry).

First day of school

Classes will commence:

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes: September 9th

  • Tuesday/Thursday classes: September 10th

Class times are:

  • Morning: 9:15am – 11:30am

  • Afternoon: 12:30pm – 2:45pm

First day list

On the first day your child will need:

  • Inside shoes

  • Backpack with extra clothes (shoes will be brought home each day)

  • Snack bag with peanut free snack

  • Water bottle optional but recommended

  • Hilroy Scrapbook 14” X 11” (grey, has Studio written on it)

Please label everything with your child’s name.  

School fees

Fees are due on the first of every month. If you are paying by cheque, you can bring 10 post-dated cheques in on the first day of class. If you prefer to use e-transfers, please send to abcds@live.ca, and ensure you have a reminder to remit one the first of each month. No security question is needed, but if you have an option of note, please add your child’s first name and last initial.

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes: $170/month

  • Tuesday/Thursday morning classes: $135/month

  • Tuesday/Thursday afternoon classes: $120/month

Cheques are made payable to Pollywogs to Leaping Frogs Preschool (or I have a stamp).

All classes are subject to a twice annual $100.00 program fee due by the 30th of September and by January 31st. These fees cover all in-house parties, field trips, supplies for crafts, picture developing for scrapbooks, and class supplies (toilet paper, tissue, etc.).

Logistics

When you arrive at the school, please remove outside shoes, put your child’s inside shoes on, and sign your child in on the bulletin board (they also need to be signed out at pick up time). They will need their snack bag and water bottle in the class, and we will open the door at start time to welcome them in to the class.

You will be receiving a monthly newsletter via email, a copy of which will be posted on the bulletin board outside the classroom and on the Pollywogs website. You can also sign up additional email addresses for the newsletter if others would like to receive our updates directly.

There are parking stalls along the church sidewalk, these are allocated for church staff only. Please only use the available spots within the parking lot.

Each child will have a turn at being our “special helper”. Their name will appear on our monthly calendar and, on that day, they are welcome to bring in anything they want to share with the class.

At some point through the year, all the children will have a sick time, especially if this is their first time in a group environment such as this. If your child has thrown up, or had  diarrhea, a fever, or an unknown rash, they may not return to class until they have been free of their symptoms for at least 24 hours.

Parent helpers

On the first day there will be sign up sheets for those of you that would like to help. Please look for them on the bulletin board.

  • Laundry: requires you taking home a basket of classroom cloths to wash and return

  • Play-doh: requires you to make a batch of play-doh once a month

Every now and then, we'll have a laundry basket with toys in it. We ask that you take a help take some home, run them through the dishwasher, and then return them to class.  This has proven to be the most efficient way to keep on top of keeping toys as clean as possible.

June News

Here we are on the cusp of our last month. Thank you so much to all of our families for such an amazing year. Wish with the best to all those families who will graduate and move on in their journeys after June.

June Dates

  • 5th and 6th: Lion’s Park Father’s Day BBQ Dad and child will be roasting a hot dog, and juice boxes and chips will be provided. Please bring alternative food in the event of allergies.

  • 17th and 20th: Year End Parties We will celebrate year end at the Toy Hutch (17213 107 Avenue) from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Hot dogs, chips, and juice boxes will be supplied, but please bring alternative food in the event of allergies.

  • 18th and 19th: PJ Party We will be watching our ABC movie in its entirety with popcorn and juice boxes. Please have children wear PJs, let them know they are eclome to bring a small blankie or stuffie, and supply an alternative snack if popcorn can’t be had.

  • 19th: Monday/Wednesday/Friday Graduation Please drop children off at the classroom by 5:50pm so that we can organize before going upstairs to the church for graduation. We will start at 6:00pm and be done by 6:45pm, and all are invited to attend. There will be a sign up sheet on the school bulletin board to help count numbers of people we’ll expect, and we ask tha everyone bring a snack to share.
